Broomfield Family Portraits
Kammi and I photographed Jane and Derick’s wedding almost two years ago. They have added the cutest little bean to their family. I met them at their house for a lifestyle family session. This is probably one of the most rewarding parts of being a photogapher. To be able to see the progression of life from past clients. To be able to connect again, talk, laugh, and document another milestone in the life.

Boulder Engagement Session|Courtney & Chris
I guess if anything I would name this post the yummy edition. Courtney & Chris have two sides in front of the camera. On one hand they are so into each other, it’s like I am not even there taking photos. On the other hand they are just full of life and extremely playful. For the most part of the post I choose to post all the yummy photos of them. The session started off with it raining, but it quickly turned in our favor with beautiful weather. Their wedding is going to be incredible and we are looking forward to spending time with them and their family.

Denver Senior Photographer|Roka Studios
Even though we created a separate website and branding for our Senior photography. I wanted to share these photos on this blog too. Our senior website is www.rokastudios.com if you want to see more of our senior photography. Emily is a model rep for our studio, and I just love her photos. She did such a fantastic job for us. Here are some of my favorites.

Denver Portrait Photographer|Wright Family
I love the idea of giving back and making a difference in life. The Wright Family bid for a session from us at a silent auction and they were the winning bidders. It was for a great cause and the whole night raised alot of money. Brad, Jianna and little Jace met me in Boulder for their lifestyle session. I was originally suppose to photograph them last week, but there was a little mishap during a boys outing shooting guns. Not to worry, no one was seriously injured, just a little scratch and a bruise. One week later we met up for their session. It was only a short time that I was with them, but I had a great time getting to know them during our session. It’s such a rewarding job to not only to photograph people for a living, but to meet all kinds of people and document this time in their lives. Little Jace is like any other toddler. He is on the go constantly and interested in his surroundings. He has no fear and is at the “I do it myself independence stage.” Here are some of my favorites from the session.

Denver Engagement Session|Sara & Zach
Sara and Zach are getting married this fall in October and the beautiful Lionscrest Manor. We met downtown Denver for their engagement session this past Sunday. The spring weather was perfect for us to run around downtown and take some photos. Winter months in Colorado are mainly spent mainly indoors for those that are not skiers(I am not), so springtime is the start of wedding season. Engagement sessions, senior sessions, family sessions and weddings. I love this time of year. I get to build relationships with new clients, and previous clients are having babies. The best part is I get to do what I love and that is photograph people. I had a great time getting to know Sara and Zach better running around Denver. Here is a peak at their engagement session photos.

Spring in Colorado is such a tease. One day it snows the next day it is almost 70 degrees. Even after 12 years living out here, I am still not use to it. It’s just reminds me that you can never put away your jackets out here. Makes me want to move back to Florida some times. Oh how I miss the beach, palm trees and believe it or not…humidity. Doesn’t help that we got a free subscription to some tropical magazine with these beautiful tropical locations and there is snow on the ground out here. Here’s a shot of our spring snow. Have a great week.

MHP Workshp
For the past couple of years I have been part of Mile High Photographers(MHP). The group of photographers started getting together in peoples living rooms to meet about once a month. What started off small now has over 400 members here in Colorado. Kammi and I have made so many friends by being part of this amazing group of photographers. Three people have dedicated their time to get this group off the ground and organized. Jessica, Andrew and Shannon have put their heart and soul into this. Since we have benefited from all these meetings, I decided to give some of my time to help organize an event. I wanted to do a shooting workshop for the group. Since spring weather in Colorado is never predictable I wanted to do a studio shooting workshop. We rented our North Denver Photographers studio and brought in 4 amazing photographers to teach different lighting methods. We had models, stylists, hair and makeup come to help. We had four shooting stations for the photographers to rotate to every hour. Erin Cady taught high key with our fashion models. Karie Mclain taught with constant light, video light for Boudoir. Mark Hayes taught a two light set up with our senior models. Tanja taught with her huge 4×6 softbox and reflector set up for our children models. I didn’t get to do alot of shooting since I was helping out, but I did get some shots that I wanted to share. A huge thanks to everyone that help make this event happen and to the MHP members that came to the workshop. If you are a Colorado Photographer and would like to join MHP, leave a comment with your email address and I will send you an invite. For anyone looking for a stylist, hair or makeup artist for their wedding you can find their links at the bottom of this post.Stylist: Tina with Worthwhile StyleHair & Makeup: Rachel with Girls with Curls

Winter Childrens Photography in Denver
Children can be very fun and challenging to shoot. Luckily, after the last snow storm we were granted a warm day. That combined with Heather showing up with warm vanilla milk from Starbucks and the children all were willing to cooperate provided us with some time to get a few pics of some great friends. We purchased the coordinating sweaters for our friends children this past Christmas partly because they were cute. The other reason was we were hoping to get a awesome photograph of all the kids together in their bright, bold sweaters. A hint of rustic Colorado, a touch of United Colors of Benetton (from Children’s Place though) and maybe ‘a moon’ from a dad (see laughing shot!). Mission accomplished!
Check out the icicles.

Denver Portrait Photographer|Baby Photophotography
Little Dillon-2 Months Old
Last week I went down to photograph Dillon, who is two months old. He is such a cute little guy, but did not want to sleep for his baby portraits. Everyone time he would fall asleep and we would get ready to take photos, he would wake up a little fussy. Can’t blame the guy, all he wanted to do was sleep but we kept trying to take his photo. Photographing newborns and babies is always a long process. I let all our clients know that the session will take longer than normal. Babies need to be fed, they poop, cry, spit up, and we are always on their schedule. I was extremely happy with the photos we came away with. Meet little Dillon.
